NCJOC Events
In addition to regular monthly meetings, NCJOC sponsors and participates in a number of important events throughout the year. A few of these are described here.
The English Motor Tour, held in the spring, is a two day touring event to one of the many regional points of interest. Numbering 40 or more cars (on occasion over 110 cars have participated), the tour has visited Annapolis, home of the United States Naval Academy in Maryland; historic Fredericksburg, Virginia; the headquarters of GROUP 44 in Winchester, West Virginia; and Thomas Jefferson's home near Charlottsville, VA; beautiful Longwood Botanical Gardens in nearby Pennsylvania, and a number of other historic and scenic sites throughout the region.
British Car Day, sponsored by
the MG Club, is a favorite early summer event which attracts over
seven hundred British marque cars. NCJOC
members also participate in the annual Irish and Scottish
Walk, held in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia, and attend a variety
of car shows held at Sully Plantation, Gunston Hall and
Mansion.
NCJOC's major car show event is the
annual Concours d'Elegance. At
the Concours you will find some of the most elegant of Jaguars, new
and old. Pristine XK's and XKEs, elegant saloons, such
as the Mark X, Mark V, Mark II, and 420G, and
the sleek new XJ8 convertibles are just a few of the treats to behold.

Concours is a sanctioned, judged event, where owners compete
for recognition in National and Driven classes under
JCNA rules.
One
of the more popular of
NCJOC activities are
Technical Sessions. Many
tech sessions are informal and take place before and after meetings or on
weekends at someone's home garage. The main technical event, however, is a
twice-a-year tech session at a local Jaguar dealership.
Here, owners can put their cars on lifts and perform minor repairs or
maintenance. Although Master Jaguar mechanics are on hand to help
with questions, it's a "hands on" event that everyone looks forward to!
NCJOC is not without its social events, of course. The more formal of these is the annual Holiday Dinner held in December. The event combines an evening of fine dining and dancing with the presentation of annual awards and the installation of new officers. The sight of elegantly dressed (yes, black tie... the pc thing to do in Washington D.C., don't you know?) arriving in equally elegant Jaguars of all types does turn a few heads.
Another of our special
events is the occasional
reception held for
NCJOC members at the British
Embassy. The British Ambassador and his wife, Sir John and
Lady Kerr, and the Embassy staff have been especially supportive
of NCJOC and the reception at the Embassy
is a truly outstanding event.
